Developers Ask Small Businesses for Their Needs
For this discussion thread, developers can talk to small businesses about their concerns/needs as a customer. The Apps for Entrepreneurs Challenge should focus on apps, where a small business and/or entrpreneur is the customer.

Being on both sides of that fence, I'd personally find useful tools that did matching of whitepapers, product descriptions to contracting opportunities. I'm also wondering what information would be useful for bricks & mortar businesses. For example, identifying suppliers, sub-contractors that might be close by, etc.

Thanks for asking Kelly. One example is that a small company might have a web page that describes a product they currently sell; or they might have a page that describes "what they do". Having a web app that takes this "product description" or "company mission" and identifies likely grant or contracting opportunities (sbir.gov or fbo.gov) might help in combing through and targeting opportunities. The same kind of matching could be done using founder/team linked-in profiles, as an example.
There might be more pertinent kinds of things, but I started working on this feature to at least get acquainted with the APIs.
Does this sound useful? or is there something that sounds like a more compelling use of data?
